facebook games and accessability?

Category: Accessible Games

Hey, I know there a ton of games that are available on the social media site, facebook, but does anyone play any games on there? And, how do I find them? And, how's the accessability for screen readers? Any help or game names or addresses would be helpful or however you find these things on that site.
Thanks to all.

i like playing social interview. it's a game where the programme asks you questions about your friends and you have to anser them. well not really questions, things such as do you think this person likes chocolate. that kind of thing. it's always funny to see how people have ansered. also the quizzes on fb are good, like what animal are you and that kind of thing

I don't bother with crap like that personally. I'm stillnot a huge fan of Facebook, but I had to do something since Myspace has gone seriously downhill in the last year.

dude I love 21 questions. That's a neat app. There is some farm game that a lot of people play on facebook and that's supposed to be pretty accessible.

Hey, thanks to all and I think I know the farm one cause my sister plays, but I haven't tried it yet. I think its farmville or petville or something like that. I'm not a huge fan of facebook, but a couple asked me if I played games on there and if I'd like to join so thought I would ask here in case anyone did find some accessible ones.

I don't play any of the games. Of course I use WIndow-Eyes and not JAWS and WE seems to be overlooked when it comes to making things accessible. Stupid state agencies and their contracts. Pretty much guarantees that most people aren't even going to know they have other options for a screen reader if they don't want to go with the Shark. As for Facebook I use it for finding and messaging friends and that's it.

i'd love to see if the facebook jeopardy game is accessible with JAWS. In fact ... I'm going to go and find out right now. I'll post back if I can figure the tdarn thing out.

I'll ay this much, the Jeopardy online test on the official site doesn't seem accessible at least not with Window-Eyes. Again, stupid contracts. I had to have help when I took the test a couple months ago. So I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same with the Facebook game.

there are a lot of stuff not accessible with jaws either, just saying

What contracts? Facebook is a private company. So according to @BryanP22 there are contracts between Facebook and the NVAccess group, Google / Android, and Apple.
Amazing. And, interesting.
Since I use Facebook with NVDA or my iPod (yes even the full site will load on iOS), they've got contracts with those too. Next we shall have Facebook contracts with, what, T-Mobile? AT&T?
So, if I can't log onto Facebook using a weak wi fi signal in one coffeeshop but I can with another somewhat stronger signal in another coffeeshop, the first one is out of luck because the second one has a contract with Facebook? Who'd have thought!

No, but there ARE contracs between just about every voc rehab agency for the blind and Greedom Science Fiction. At least in the US anyway. The point I was trying to make with that statement was simply that even when attempts are made to increase accessibility it's usually with JAWS in mind while overlooking the other options out there.

Internet accessibility is about sticking to accepted standards. Screen readers have to implement those standards, so perhaps WE is simply not doing a good enough job of that.
Of course there is the way of custom scripting screen readers to work with certain applications, but I am absolutely sure this is not the case with Facebook, they would not bother writing custom Jaws scripts.
In this case, I think Jaws simply does a better job with Javascript, Flash and other internet technologies than Window Eyes does (and I am not pro Jaws or anti Window Eyes at all, I want all of them to work equally well).
Accessibility of Facebook with Jaws is nothing to write home about either.

Well from my experience with WE I'd say t is doing a good enough job and people are just ignoring it. Or were. Even some of the voc rehab folks out here are turning to WE because unlike the Shark, I've noticed that it gets things right the first time more often than not.

So how do I find these games? Perhaps, we should set up a list of what's accesible. I sometimes get e-mails like A has asked you a question, but I never go to the links nowadays because I've heard that some are viruses. So how do I know when it's a real question game? I have also gone to a few of the links, before all the virus stuff started, only to find that I couldn't unlock the answers or some such.
